Venezuela is “on the path” of the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) because it is “on the path of balance in the world,” Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro stated this Wednesday from Russia, during a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
The meeting between both leaders took place within the framework of the XVI BRICS Summit that takes place from October 22 to 24 in the Russian city of Kazan.
“I congratulate you on the success of this historic summit, which is a great hope for the people of the world,” said Maduro accompanied by the Venezuelan Vice President, Delcy Rodríguez, and Foreign Minister Yván Gil.
Regarding bilateral relations, Maduro pointed out that Venezuela and Russia have built “indestructible” ties, which have been tested in recent years.
The Venezuelan president announced that on November 7, the Russia-Venezuela intergovernmental commission will meet in the city of Caracas to draw a “very complete” map to strengthen cooperation.
Maduro told his Russian counterpart that there are very positive indicators of economic growth and that they are prepared to seal new Russian investments in the South American country.
In turn, Putin expressed his satisfaction with Maduro’s participation in the BRICS Summit, as well as his support for Venezuela’s aspiration to join the BRICS work.
The Russian president expressed that Venezuela is one of Russia’s “old and reliable” partners in Latin America and the world, in addition to the fact that the strategic partnership relations between both countries will continue to develop and strengthen.
