Doctor Madura United Marcello Araujo hopes that the ambulance provided in the field will not be like a taxi that only takes someone to the hospital after the Ricki Ariansyah incident that collapsed in Liga 1.

Madura United player Ricki Ariansyah alias Rian was unconscious after colliding with an opposing player while scoring a goal against PSIS Semarang in the League 1 match at the Jatidiri Stadium, Semarang, on Tuesday (7/3).

When he collapsed, Rian got help from his teammate, Reva Adi, who tried to pull his tongue so he wouldn’t swallow it.

After that, the Madura United team doctor, Marcello Araujo, came to provide first aid. After starting to regain consciousness, Rian was immediately taken to the hospital using an ambulance.

However, Marcello considered that the medical equipment available in the ambulance was not complete to treat players.

“The ambulance from the hospital is not complete. If the ambulance is there it is not a taxi, but he must be complete in it to receive the patient inside,” said Marcello.

Marcello also hopes that PSSI can provide firmness regarding the completeness of the medical equipment in the ambulance on the field.

“I asked the federation for help [peralatan medis di ambulans] in more detail next,” said Marcello.

Rian’s life can be saved after collapsing in the match. Rian is currently under the care of a team of doctors at the Elizabeth Hospital in Semarang.
