The deputy delegate of the Government in Jaén, Catalina Madueño, has visited the town of Santiago de Calatrava to learn about the damage caused by the storm last Saturday.
The objective of the visit, according to Madueño, is “to carry out an evaluation of the situation, as well as to analyze the possible aid that the municipality can avail itself of for the repair of damages and malfunctions”.
Also, it has indicated that “the Ministry of the Interior, through the General Directorate of Civil Protection, has a program of funds destined to alleviate the consequences originating in urban areas due to emergency situations and natural disasters.”
In the same way, the subdelegate has indicated that the Civil Protection Service of the Government Subdelegation is in “continuous contact” with the Santiago de Calatrava City Council, in order to be aware of the effects, caused by the storm, as well as to report on the content of Royal Decree 307/2005 in which subsidies are regulated in response to certain needs arising from emergency or catastrophic situations, both in municipal facilities and in homes and personal belongings.
Finally, the representative of the Executive has stated that for the consistories to be able to request from the competent administrations the established lines of help, it is necessary, first of all, to know with the maximum possible precision the effects and losses that have occurred, in this case in Santiago de Calatrava. However, Madueño has indicated that “the measures to be determined will be studied, within the competence of the Government of Spain.”
