Madrid retakes the masses but with a third of the capacity

Madrid retakes thes masses with the public from this Monday but with special conditions in the face of the coronavirus pandemic, such as the opening only with a third of the capacity, has remembered the Archbishopric of Madrid through its website.

In order to avoid crowds and ensure safe distances are respected, churches will organize opening and closing while recommending, “if necessary and possible”, increasing the number of celebrations.

Temples kept their doors open until now but the celebration of the same had been suspended to avoid crowds and thus control the expansion of the covid-19.

Masses will return despite the region remaining in phase 0 of the deconfusion plan. The Archbishopric, with Carlos Osoro in front, dispensed from the Sunday precept according to the guidelines set by the Spanish Episcopal Conference and suggests risky, elderly and sick people let them stay at home and follow the celebrations on television, radio or the Internet.

Give yourself peace without contact and communion, better in hand

It is also going to be obligatory that the faithful wear a mask, the holy water basins will remain empty and disinfectant gel will be offered before and after. The gesture of give yourself peace it will be replaced by a contactless one.

Communion is recommended in the hand. Choirs will be avoided by reducing music to a single singer and no parish sheets or other items will be distributed. The collection basket will not be passed during the offertory but at the exit of mass.

The Archbishopric has prepared posters with key measures so that parishes can post them on their bulletin boards and in their entrances.
