Liverpool, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich are favorites to win the Champions League this season. Carlo Ancelotti convinced, Real Madrid can compete with them.
Liverpool, City and Bayern Europe are the most promising teams in the group phase. The Reds drove smoothly in the ‘group hell’ containing AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Porto by winning their first five matches. Liverpool have already qualified for the round of 16.
In line with the British giant, Bayern Munich have also qualified for the knockout stages after winning their five group matches. Bayern showed their might by entering 19 goals and conceding only three goals.
Meanwhile Manchester City successfully won four of its five matches, including once beating the glamorous team Paris St. Germain. The Citizens has already entered the round of 16, surpassing PSG, which is also predicted to be a champion candidate.
Real Madrid status as a club with trophies Champions League the most (8), but is seen as less convincing than the three aforementioned clubs. The reason, Madrid was humiliated by the weak team of Sheriff Tiraspol at home. Ancelotti has no doubt his team has everything it takes to compete in the race for the Big Ear trophy.
However, Madrid are now top of Group A and have strolled into the knockout stages of the Champions League. The whites just fight for the status of group winners with Inter Milan which will be determined in the last match at the Santiago Bernabeu, Wednesday (8/12) WIB.
“I can’t say whether we are favorites or not, but I can say that we can compete with all teams,” said Ancelotti when asked about Liverpool, Man City, and Bayern are quoted ESPN.
“With the quality and experience we have, we can compete. After that we’ll see,” continued the former Bayern coach.
“If you really want to win this competition you have to face all the best teams in the world whether it’s in the last 16, in the quarter-finals… I think we can compete. I don’t know if we will win it, but to compete yes, of course ,” said Ancelotti.
