Madras High Court Orders Prohibition of Non-Hindus from Entering Palani Murugan Temple

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court ordered that non-Hindus should not be allowed to enter the Palani Murugan Temple and ordered the reinstatement of signs indicating that non-Hindus and those who do not believe in Hindu gods are not allowed to enter the temple.

Do not allow non-Hindus beyond the flagpole. The court also clarified that darshan can be allowed to people of other religions only on the basis of an affidavit that they have come for darshan with faith in Murugan. A separate register should be kept in the temple for this. The court verdict was on the petition of a resident of Palani who questioned the removal of the executive officer of the board, which prohibited non-Hindus from entering the temple.
