This weekend the Queen of Pop will perform her biggest hits of the past four decades in the Ziggo Dome. In any case, it is not the fans’ fault tonight: the first fanatics had been queuing since 4 a.m. to get the best seats.
Fans from all over the world came to Amsterdam early this morning to experience the pop icon as closely as possible tonight. “I flew here from Miami for the show.” Around nine o’clock there were already about thirty diehards in front of the Ziggo Dome. “I got in line here at 4am, even though I’m staying in the hotel next door,” one Briton confessed.
The fans are happy to take today’s winter cold for granted. “Madonna is 65 and will soon be performing for two hours. We can freeze a bit before that.” But because waiting that long doesn’t leave you in the cold, the fans have taken measures.
“I’m already wearing my Madonna outfit, but on top of that I also have three sweaters and three pairs of pants, my ski clothes and I have rescue blankets,” says a fan, who has left his jacket at home. “I can put that on, but it will ruin the whole outfit.”
The doors of the venue open at 7 p.m., but the question is whether the wait will be over for the fans. The concert organizer Mojo already warned fans about a later start time. Madonna regularly starts performances later in her Celebration Tour. “If you come by train, check what time the last one leaves,” writes Mojo.
