“It was weird because I had no control over it,” she said of the bacterial infection that landed her in intensive care last July.
Madonna continued, saying, “I’ve fallen off a lot of horses and broken a lot of bones. I have titanium hips. The list goes on and on, but nothing can stop me.”

Madonna, who has spoken about her health at times during previous tours, described the situation as “close to death”.
“I’m not joking. It was quite scary. I was in an induced coma. But when I woke up, the first word I said was “no”. I’m pretty sure God said to me, “Do you want to come with us?” Do you want to come with me? Do you want to go this way?” And I said, “No. No, no!””
She named Dr. Agusu on a very special person in the audience: “He has received so many phone calls from me. When I was sick this summer and literally couldn’t get out of bed to go to the bathroom, I called him every other day and asked him why I had no energy.” “When will my energy return? When will I feel like myself again? When can I go back on tour? When, when, when, when, when, when, when? And all he said was, ‘Get out in the sun!'” Madonna reveals.
“And I hate the sun, but I did it anyway, and it was so hard for me to go out in the yard and sit in the sun. I know it sounds crazy but it was hard and I didn’t know when I would be able to get back up and when I would be able to be myself again and when I would be back. And that was my lesson,” she said.
She concluded her speech by thanking “everyone here who cared for her and listened to all her endless lamentations and needs.”
She also mentioned her children, who “really helped her through because they worked so hard and I didn’t want to let them down.”
