In recent days, Madonna’s fans have become increasingly vocal that they are ready to write her off after she called her fan base “fat and unattractive” in an interview earlier this year.
Now, 30 years later, her comment is back in the spotlight. The 66-year-old star is no stranger to the public with his own opinion on many issues and has repeatedly stated openly what he thinks about certain topics. Still, she is one of the few who managed to scandalize the Vatican because of her music video “Like a Prayer”, in which she is crucified.
As for her infamous interview from ’91 – a clip of her eloquent words continues to circulate on social networks, causing displeasure not only among her fans, but also from the rest of the people. During the interview, Madonna expressed how happy she is to be in Los Angeles, as she can spend much of her time alone eating with friends or at a bar. During the conversation, she says that she loves it when people stop her on the street and show her their love, but she “hates those annoying fanatics”.
“These are obsessive fanatics, whose attention seems very hostile, it is beyond admiration, it is very scary. And they are always fat people. The most unattractive, difficult to look at creatures that harass me.”
The video, viewed only on X, has more than 500,000 views, but there is still no comment from Madonna on the subject. At the expense of this, her followers keep commenting: “All the stars are behaving terribly.”; “Madonna, aren’t you ashamed to say that, even 30 years ago?” etc.
The singer scandalized the public already on her birthday, which was August 16. For the extravagant celebration, he rented a 2,200-year-old amphitheater in Pompeii. The mayor himself then commented to La Repubblica that they were looking forward to it. “We are ready to welcome the singer”. However, the news did not go down well with some Italians, who criticized the choice of venue for the superstar, who, for €30,000 just for booking, arranged the venue for a party. Michele Campisi, secretary general of the cultural heritage association Italia Nostra, told The Times at the time : “€30,000 is absurd. It’s like giving away Pompeii.” He also questioned why Madonna had to go to Pompeii for her birthday and could not use a “beautiful beach”.
