Madness took Lille after Morocco qualified

At the foot of it rose last night, shortly after final whistle of Morocco-Portugal (1-0), hundreds of red flags adorned with a green star, symbol of Morocco. In an affront to history, Morocco just became the first African country to qualify for a semi-final of the world’s biggest sporting event, by knocking out a European team. A nice symbol. In the great general madness improvised fireworks are lit, firecrackers explode and the square lights up to celebrate the heroes of a people of expatriates or of dual nationality who largely deserve a moment of happiness.
