Madness in the Tatras. In the formula, Coulthard makes a “mirror” with the acrobatic pilot Šonka

At the end of April, it caused a stir in Formula 1 in the colors of Red Bull, which, together with a team of filmmakers, appeared in front of Prague Castle, on Charles Bridge, and then headed for Moravia and Slovakia. Now Red Bull has released the entire seven-minute video. And it’s absolutely breathtaking. It is especially noteworthy that the machine is driven by David Coulthard and the video was directed and written by Markus Krug, a former co-creator of One Man Show.

The name of cinematographer and director Markus Krug has been associated for many years mainly with Kamil Bartošek alias Kazma, the star of One Man Show. They formed an inseparable creative couple, but Krug announced last year that he was leaving the team.

Now his first solo project has been published, on which he worked as a director and cinematographer at the same time. A seven-minute video with Formula 1 from the Red Bull stable in the lead role. It is called From Castle to Castle and the star behind the wheel of the machine is formula racer David Coulthard.

The formula begins its journey in front of Prague Castle, walks over Charles Bridge, makes a few wheels around the statue of Franz Kafka’s swivel head by David Černý and then heads to Moravia among the vineyards, to the Lednice-Valtice area, and then to Slovakia. Absolutely breathtaking is the “mirror” scene, where the acrobatic pilot Martin Šonka flies upside down directly above the formula and in the distance rises the Slovak Tatras.

“I really enjoyed it. What I enjoy most about the whole video is that everything is real in it. The scene where the plane flies upside down just a few meters above the formula is real, it’s Martin’s great trick,” says David Coulthard. acrobatic pilot Martin Šonka flies upside down just above the car.

Filming started at the end of April, the first day was filmed in the early morning hours on Charles Bridge. In particular, some people in the public space criticized the Prague City Hall for allowing a racing machine to ride around a historical monument.

So perhaps the softener result is worth it. Few videos, moreover from a commercial company, so sensitively and successfully present the Czech Republic, its monuments or landscape. And this also applies to Slovakia, where the formula reached in the film. A funny moment is the scene with the Slovak rapper Rytmus. He drives through Bratislava in a red Honda NSX, after overtaking the formulas he must admit that he is not the local “fastest fish”. For the whole video look here.
