We talked about it a few years ago facial recognition as a possible ultimate anti-scalping tool, but this would not be the only viable application for this mechanism. Inside Madison Square Garden of New York have decided to take some steps forward in this matter and are already using such a technology to prevent lawyers from accessing their concerts.

According to NMEin the attachments enclosed by the Madison Square Garden This tool is already being used to deny entry to those lawyers who intend to sue them. This innovative technology seeks to identify attorneys present in any of the New York City offices and proceeds to bar them entry if they work for a law firm attempting to sue the company, as explained by Rolling stone.

A company representative expressed the following: “MSG has instituted a strict policy that prevents attorneys from companies that have an ongoing litigation against the company from attending events at our offices until the litigation has been resolved. While we understand that this policy is disappointing to some, we cannot ignore the fact that litigation creates an inherently adverse environment.”

This tool has already been used to expel a lawyer and her husband from a concert by Brandi Carlile because he worked for a firm involved in litigation against MSG, even though the lawyer was not personally involved. On another occasion, an employee was kicked out of Davis, Saperstein and Solomon of a show of Radio City Music Hall while his son watched the show.

Evan Greerof the organization Fight for the futureopposed this strategy referring to the last case: “This is the perfect example that demonstrates that these tools can be used in truly alarming ways. Somehow this is a harmless case, it’s not like the lawyer was arrested. The reality is that it was a company that with what might be considered a small complaint used a deeply invasive surveillance device to lock out a mother while her son attended a concert.
