The Foreign Ministry of Northern Macedonia strongly condemns yesterday’s inscriptions “Macedonia is Bulgaria”, which could be seen in the hands of some deputies during the first item of the sitting in the Bulgarian National Assembly. A speech with such content was made orally from the rostrum of the parliament during the same session, they claim in Skopje, BGNES reported.
“Such messages are contrary to European democratic values, as well as to the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation, and do not contribute to the protection of the principles and spirit of the Treaty,” the Macedonian Foreign Ministry said.
The statement said the state expects Bulgarian officials to condemn the explicit hate speech and territorial claims to northern Macedonia as an extremely disproportionate act against a neighboring friendly state.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Northern Macedonia handed the relevant verbal note with such content to the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs,” the message said.
