US President Donald Trump promotes products made in the United States as part of the week “Made In America Week“, like cowboy hats or red fire engines.
However, the White House also defended products from the brand created by the president’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, which were made in Asia.
The week dedicated toMade in America” presents for each of the fifty States of the country a product which is manufactured there.
“We want to create, build and grow more products in our country using American labor, American goods, American resources“, launched Mr. Trump wearing a typical Texan Stetson hat.
Restoring American manufacturing will restore the country’s wealth and pride, according to the president.
Sean Spicer embarrassed by the press
Donald Trump has claimed that his policy aims to prevent other nations from stealing American jobs through unfair trade practices, and to help American manufacturers “to be competitive“by removing legislation.
However, the White House has been questioned about products made outside the United States by Trump family companies, including his daughter Ivanka Trump’s ready-to-wear line.
The products of the eponymous brand are made in China, Vietnam and Indonesia, where the cost of labor is cheaper than in the United States.
White House spokesman Sean Spicer would not comment on specific products from Trump companies, but said that “there are some supply chains that may not be available in that country.“
