Christian Bruckner’s name is not new to the Portuguese authorities. In 1999, three years after arriving in Portugal, the then young Christian was arrested and served two months in jail in Évora for minor thefts. After being released, he managed to stay out of legal trouble until 2006, when he was arrested again, now to serve a nine-month sentence. The fuel theft was the last straw that led him to prison a second time.
