UNITED STATES.- Hollywood is mourning the death of Australian actor Hugh Keays-Byrne at the age of 73, as confirmed and lamented by Ted Geoghegan, director of the film “Mad Max: Fury Road” where Hugh played the villain Immortan Joe in 2015.
Through Twitter, the director recalled the roles that Hugh Keays-Byme played in the first Mad Max movie, as well as the last one in 2015; in both productions he played the villains of history.
Hugh Keays-Byrne, an anonymous hero of Australian cinema, has passed away at the age of 73. It continually amazes me that he played Toecutter, the central antagonist of Mad Max from 1979 and Immortan Joe, the central antagonist of Mad Max: Fury Road, 2015. Thanks for all the entertainment, sir, he wrote.

With another publication on the same social network, Ted Geoghegan showed one of the most recent photos of the actor where he wore a mask that made reference to the character Immortan Joe.
By all accounts, Hugh Keays-Byrne, who was trained at the Royal Shakespeare Company, was an absolutely wonderful human being who fought very hard for environmental and humanitarian issues. This photo of him from earlier this year says it all.
