Macy’s department store has plans to build an office skyscraper over its headquarters in Herald Square.
According to the project, an investment of $ 235 million is required.
It would also permanently transform the space between Herald Square and Broadway Plaza into a car-free zone.
Similarly, new entrances would be built for the Herald Square subway station near Penn Station, as well as elevators for people with limited mobility.
Macy’s indicates that the project would create more than 16,000 jobs.
The proposal has yet to go through the city’s uniform land use review process before any type of construction can begin.
