In the second round of the presidential election, Makron received 58% of the vote, thus convincingly outperforming his rival, far-right politician Marina Lepen.
Macron and Lepenne also won the last French presidential election five years ago; at the time, Macron’s victory was even more convincing (66% vs. 34%).
Macron is the first French president in 20 years to be re-elected.
