Macron wants Russia defeated in war, but not crushed

Russia must be defeated in its war with Ukraine, but not to be crushed. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron in an interview published today, AFP reported.

“I want Russia to be defeated in Ukraine and I want Ukraine to be able to defend its position, he told French media. I am convinced that in the end this will not end militarily, he added.

Macron predicted that neither side can completely prevail. But he does not want the battle to be fought on Russian soil. He also said that some people “want above all to crush Russia. That has never been France’s position”.

Macron: Now is not the time for dialogue with Russia

He called on his allies to increase their military support for Ukraine

We recall that a day earlier, Macron stated that now is not the time for dialogue with Russia.

At the Munich Security Conference French President Emmanuel Macron he called his allies to increase their military support for Ukraineto help the country organize the necessary counter-offensive.

Only a Ukrainian counteroffensive could enable “credible negotiations determined by Ukraine, its authorities and its people”.

We are ready for a prolonged conflict. In saying that, I don’t wish it. But above all, if we don’t want it, we must believe together in our ability to make lasting efforts,” added the French leader.

He announced his desire to organize a “conference on air defense in Europe” in Paris, which would discuss industrial as well as strategic problems related to this sphere.
