The French leader told the Russian president that Ukraine and Russia must end the conflict in Donbas.
French President Emmanuel Macron, during a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, reminded his interlocutor of the importance of the Normandy format of negotiations on Donbass. About this on Friday, July 2, reported press service of the Elysee Palace.
“With regard to Ukraine, the president reminded (to Putin – ed.) Of the relevance of the Normandy format, in which France and Germany act as mediators, so that Ukraine and Russia can end the conflict and find solutions,” the communique says.
The parties also discussed the possibility of establishing more trusting relations between the European Union and Russia.
Finally, Macron raised the issue of Libya, on which he called on Putin to abide by earlier agreements in order to enable “an immediate withdrawal of militias and foreign troops.”
As a reminder, following the talks with Macron the Kremlin reportedthat Putin pointed out to his interlocutor about Kiev’s “destructive actions” in the settlement of the situation in Donbass.
