President Denis Sassou Nguesso had revealed, in his speech at the 36th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, which was held on February 18 and 19 in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, that arrangements are being made to hold a comprehensive national reconciliation conference in Libya in the coming months.
For his part, the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, revealed that the Commission intends to organize a conference on national reconciliation in Libya, in an attempt to restore stability to the country.
Faki said in a press conference following the conclusion of the African Union summit: “We have met with the various parties and we are in the process of working with them to determine the date and venue of the national conference, which will convene under the auspices of a high-level committee of the African Union chaired by Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso.”
