Macron / Insists despite popular anger on raising the retirement limit

“The French president is completely out of touch with reality,” said Jean-Luc Mélenchon

The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, in his address to the French people, promised the adoption of a set of measures at the social, economic and institutional level with the aim of improving the quality of life of workers, making it clear at the same time that the reform of the French pension system will be implemented within the next few months.

The French president stated that he understands that the majority of the French people are against the reform of the pension system, which he however described as inevitable and imperative. The solution is neither immobility nor extremism, said the French president, pointing out that from the additional income that will arise from the reform of the pension, France will have greater possibilities of independence from the markets and will be able to take measures to deal with climate change. change.

He also stated that he realizes that many French people have degraded their quality of life in recent years mainly due to rising prices and promised the intensity of government efforts in three areas. The first area concerns work and youth training where the French president spoke of a new social pact. To this end, he intends to meet with the social partners, i.e. the representatives of employers and employees, if of course, as he said, they wish it. The aim is to increase the incomes of all workers, better distribute wealth and improve working conditions for all French people. The second area concerns the Judiciary where Macron promised an increase in its human potential as well as a better treatment of crime and fraud. The third sector is that of health and social services in general where the French president was in favor of upgrading them.

President Macron said that on July 14, the day of France’s national holiday, he will make a first assessment in relation to the implementation of the commitments he made today. The speech of the French president caused negative reactions from the opposition parties and unions. From the far-right, Marine Le Pen said that Macron is unaware of how much the French are suffering, while the head of the left-wing Alliance, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, said that the French president is completely out of touch with reality.
