French President Emmanuel Macron called on retail chains to make efforts to reduce inflation. He stated this during his visit to the agricultural exhibition in Paris, quoted by BNR.
The topic of inflation marked President Macron’s meetings with French agricultural producers at the annual agricultural salon. It opened today in the midst of negotiations between manufacturers and retail chains and amid fears of another price spike in March.
“Traders are the ones who have to make the most effort” to reduce inflation, Macron said. According to him, this cannot be demanded of the producers, who have significant costs and low profits.
The president promised a plan to save water resources against the drought that badly damaged crops last year and encouraged the French to buy French food products.
Macron did not fail to defend the controversial pension reform, which has sparked a wave of protests. He announced that he would visit China to negotiate a mediation to end the war in Ukraine.
