Macron calls on countries in the Middle East to avoid escalating conflicts

The President of France Emmanuel Macron asking the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to ban it despite Hamas leaders Ismail Haniyeh murdered. Macron hopes that all parties will avoid escalating the conflict.

Reported by AFP, on Tuesday (6/8/2024), Macron made this call when he met with President Mohamed bin Zayed and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He explained how important it was for the leaders of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to avoid escalation in the Middle East.

“I have spoken to President Mohamed bin Zayed and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman regarding the situation in the Middle East. We ask all parties to be responsible and prevent it to avoid regional conflicts,” he wrote in a social media post.

He made sure that it was not anyone’s desire to escalate the conflict. “Promotion is not in anyone’s interest,” he said.

For your information, the fear of retaliation against Israel has increased after the assassination of the political leader of the Palestinian militant group Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh, last week in Tehran. Iran and its allies also blamed Israel for Haniyeh’s death.

Haniyeh’s killing came nearly 10 months after Israel’s devastating military offensive on the Gaza Strip, and was prompted by an unprecedented Hamas offensive in southern Israel.
