Macron called Zelensky, asked him an important question

French President Emmanuel Macron spoke by phone with his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, reports AFP, citing the Elysee Palace. This is the first telephone conversation between Macron and Zelensky since June, when the two met in person in Kyiv. Then the French head of state was in the Ukrainian capital together with the leaders of Germany, Italy and Romania.

Today’s conversation between Macron and Zelensky lasted about an hour and thirty minutes. It took place at a time when the first ship loaded with Ukrainian grain left Odessa. Macron has welcomed the resumption of grain exports from the Odessa port, adds AFP.

During the conversation, Macron reaffirmed France’s support for the Ukrainian people and their resistance. He expressed to Zelensky his determination to ensure that war crimes, which are increasing in Ukraine, do not go unpunished.

He asked Zelensky about the military, humanitarian and economic needs of his country. Macron has expressed a desire for France to provide macroeconomic short-term support to Ukraine, without going into details.

Radio “Europe 1” adds that Macron spoke with Zelensky, although he is on a three-week vacation at the state residence “Fort Breganson”.

At the same time, Parisien reports that France will donate a mobile laboratory for DNA analysis to Ukraine to allow the Ukrainian authorities to investigate war crimes, in particular the mass killing in Olenovka.
