French President Emmanuel Macron has been exposed to an embarrassing situation after an autistic journalist asked him about his relationship with his wife, Brigitte, and how he was related to her, who was his teacher.
During a session with autistic interlocutors of “Le Papotin”, a sales point founded in 1990 in a nursery in Paris, the journalist said: “You are the boss, you have to set an example and don’t marry your teacher!”
The question was met with laughter, with the interviewer describing them as “extraordinary reporters” known for asking such bold questions.
“You don’t choose who you love.”
Macron replied: “You don’t choose who you love. She wasn’t really my teacher, she taught me theater. It doesn’t matter.”
The president’s response to the question was met with laughter, and one reporter said, “It was a clever answer.” Macron replied: “That’s right! You’re already checking my answers. It’s not like he’s the math teacher.”
“I’m trying to negotiate”
Looking at the reporter, Macron jokingly said: “I’m trying to negotiate.”
Macron, 45, met Brigitte, 69, when he was teaching literature to a 15-year-old girl at La Providence High School.
