French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday, December 14, called Russian President Vladimir Putin, informs press service of the Kremlin.
The leaders of the countries discussed the situation with the coronavirus, the situation on the border of Belarus and Poland and Ukraine.
“Both sides set forth fundamental assessments of the current situation around Ukraine. Vladimir Putin gave specific examples showing Kiev’s violation of the Minsk agreements … It was also noted that the Ukrainian authorities are deliberately aggravating the situation on the contact line, with the connivance of a number of Western countries. Ukraine is being pumped with modern weapons, which poses a direct threat to Russia’s security, “the message says.
The Russian President emphasized the importance of the immediate launch of international negotiations to develop legally fixed guarantees excluding any further NATO advance to the East and the deployment of weapons threatening Russia in neighboring states, primarily in Ukraine.
“The Russian leader called on the French partners to treat the concerns expressed with understanding and to take part in their discussion,” the Kremlin added.
In addition, Putin and Macron discussed the situation around Nagorno-Karabakh.
Recall last week Macron had a conversation with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky, and tomorrow they should meet in Brussels.
