Emmanuel Macron received 24% of the vote against 22.1 for the leader of the National Front Marine Le Pen, who, if these results are maintained, will also qualify for the runoff, scheduled for May 7, world agencies reported.
Third is former Prime Minister Francois Fillon with 19.6, and far-left Jean-Luc Melanchon with 18.9. The Socialist candidate Beno Amon has already lost all chances to qualify for the second round by about 7%.
