France and Turkey are at loggerheads over the words spoken by the “sultan” Erdogan versus Macron defined as ‘not sane’. At the center of the dispute is the controversy over Muslim communities and the secular state in France the day after the attack that cost the teacher his life Samuel Pety. Paris has recalled his homeland in protest ambassador to Ankara but the clash risks spreading to other Arab states: some supermarkets in the Persian Gulf have announced the boycott of products from France.
