Paris, April 30, LETA – AFP. France will step up military and humanitarian support for Ukraine, French President Emmanuel Macron said in a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday.
Zelensky thanked France for “extensive military supplies that help Ukraine resist the Russian invasion”, adding that Macrone had promised that “this support will continue to intensify, as will France’s humanitarian aid.”
“The French expert mission will continue to help gather evidence to fight impunity and allow international law to operate on crimes committed in the context of Russian aggression,” the French president said.
The United States, France, the Czech Republic and other allies have supplied hundreds of long-range artillery units to Ukraine to help repel Russia’s attack on the Donbass.
France supplies CAESAR self-propelled cannon howitzers to Ukraine.
According to the French presidential office on Saturday, Paris provided “more than 615 tons of equipment, including medical equipment, generators for hospitals, food aid, asylum assistance and emergency vehicles” to Ukraine.
Macron, who was recently re-elected, promised to “work actively to restore Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, always in close coordination with its partners and allies in Europe”.
