MacOS version “mmhmm” officially released, enriching the expression of video conferencing –Engadget Japanese version

The macOS version of the virtual camera app “mmhmm” has been officially released.

The feature of “mmhmm” is that not only people but also various elements such as materials, images, videos, and capture screens of smartphones and PCs can be combined on the screen of a video conference. So to speak, it is an “app that anyone can become a newscaster”, and you can add various information to one screen like a news program on TV.

Until now, it was an invitation-only closed beta version, but now that the official version has been released, anyone can download it without having to wait for an invitation.

Along with the release of the official version, we will also offer a paid service “mmhmm Premium”. It costs JPY 1100 a month or JPY 11,000 a year and offers features such as customizable rooms, presenter controls, and laser pointers. Free users can also use these functions for one hour a day. It is also free for faculty and students for one year.

In addition, “Big Hand” has been added as a new function. This feature emphasizes hand gestures, making it easier for listeners to give feedback to the presenter. Note that “mmhmm” works on macOS Big Sur, Catalina, and Mojave, but “Big Hand” is only available on the latest Apple M1 chip-equipped Macs with macOS Big Sur installed.
