macOS Big Sur: the control center, a secure friend

The consecration of the rapprochement between macOS and iOS is also embodied by the appearance in Big Sur of a control center largely inspired by that of the iPhone or iPad. One of the differences is that customization is more limited.

These large buttons and these gauges would be very practical with the finger. Too bad the Mac is not tactile … not yet?

The macOS control center offers basic settings: networks (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, AirDrop), the Do not disturb button, the keyboard and screen brightness, the AirPlay projection, the volume and a player musical. Each category hides additional settings and options. AirPlay allows you to select the destination Apple TV or iPad (with Sidecar). In the Bluetooth menu is the headphones and earphones selector. The dedicated tab allows you to select an output, etc. You can also access the preferences of the different options directly from the control center.

Unlike iOS, the Home, Calculator or Instant Note shortcuts point to absent subscribers. However, we find in the settings Dock and menu bar system preferences the ability to add an accessibility shortcut (listing accessibility features), swapping users (sessions), and even the battery with percentage and remaining autonomy.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to rearrange the locations of the various shortcuts within the control center. These preferences allow you to enable and disable menulets from the menu bar, most of which duplicate their control center counterparts. We will save space in this famous bar. Apple has done things quite well: the center’s animations are friendly enough to make you want to use it rather than traditional handbags. Small screens will appreciate!
