The artist recounted that the invitation of the director of the National Comedy, Gabriel Calderón, to the project generated a great challenge for her, “the challenge of thinking about doing a stage translation of the Colombian writer’s literature, not only because of the excess but the challenge of to make a drama about that language engineering of García Márquez, and from that same excessiveness or artistic savagery, we began to work ”, he related.
In this sense, he said that it implies many challenges, that of a public theater that is immersed in a project of immense dimensions, the challenge of the combination of artists, the National Symphonic Band, the Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra, the 50 Ibero-American authors who wrote, the visual part.
For the director, although it is inevitable to think of magical realism, there is a Macondo of its own, there is a Montevidean Macondo, and there is a Macondo traversed by the artists who are making it”.
