The closing ceremony of the ninth film festival on the five senses took place on Sunday evening at Pathé Mâcon in front of a packed house in the presence of Hervé Reynaud, deputy for culture and Departmental Councilor.
Co-presidents Sandrine Casa and Benjamin Rollin-Messon thanked the 118 partners of the festival, the 25 members of the organizing committee, the artistic director Gaël Labanti for the quality of the programming of this edition as well as the volunteers.
This year, the festival jury chaired by actress Armande Boulanger and director Vincent Maël was made up of nine high school students from the Cinema options at the Ozanam and Cassin high schools in the city of Mâcon. Over three days, the jury watched nine films by young directors and screened in preview.
For this ninth edition, the festival brought together 8,300 festival-goers at Pathé Mâcon (6,300 in 2023), an increase of 30%.
This year, the Quintessence section of the competitive selection resulted in the awarding of three prizes.
The president of Société Déclic Patrick Meunier presented the Audience Prize worth 1,000 euros to the Franco-German-Belgian film “Rabia” by Mareike Engelhardt which will be released in theaters in December.
The president of the Mâcon local bank of Crédit Agricole Damien Rollet presented a new prize, the Interpretation Prize worth €500 to Malou Khebizi, the main actress in the film “Rough Diamond” by Agathe Riedinger.
The Youth Grand Prize (€1,000) was awarded to the French film “The Kingdom” by Julien Colonna.
The French film by Emmanuel Courcol: “En fanfare”, his third feature film, followed the awards ceremony.
The evening continued at the Station des Sens for the closing party with singer Angelo.
The festival continues tomorrow with ten films and will end with a preview with “Jane Austen has ruined my life” French film by Laura Piani in the presence of actor Pablo Pauly.
