The Colorado Avalanche will be starved of star Nathan MacKinnon for a third straight game on Monday as the Arizona Coyotes visit Denver.
The forward left his team’s game on Wednesday when he was hit in the head by San Jose Sharks skater Joachim Blichfeld. He missed the next two games, a 3–2 overtime win and a 5-4 overtime loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
“I’ve known Mac for a few years, and at this point he must be chomping at the bit, even though he’s ready to go and would probably like to play tonight.” [lundi], head coach Jared Bednar told The Denver Post. He just can’t. He will not get the green light from the doctors in time. ”
In addition to MacKinnon, the Avalanche will have to do without the services of defensemen Cale Makar and Bowen Byram. The two players, however, skated solo and could return to the squad by the end of the week, Bednar said.
