Machine story theft; No warrant issued for director Shankar | Non bailable warrant for director Shankar in Enthiran plagiarism case

Chennai: Director Shankar has not been granted bail in the case of stealing the story of Brahmanda movie Yenthiran. The warrant was issued by two Edmore Metropolitan Magistrate’s courts. The action was taken in a case filed by writer Aroor Tamil Nadu.

It is alleged that Shankar Yenthiran shot the film by stealing his story ‘Jiguba’. Jiguba was released in Tamil Nadu in 1996. The action is in a case that is years old.

A non-bailable warrant was issued against Shankar for his failure to appear in court. The case is set to return to court on February 19.

In 1996, Jiguba was published in a Tamil magazine. It was later republished in 2007 as Dik Dik Deepika Deepika. According to the complaint, Yenthiran was producing the film and the Yenthiran team made a lot of money from the film.

Yentiran will be released in 2010. Yenthiran, starring superstars Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai, was one of the best grossing films of 2010.
