Amazon Web Services Launches Free Machine Learning Training Courses for Executives. Digital courses connect managers and technology experts with a focus on practical applications.

(red/cc) Machine learning, i.e. machine learning together with artificial intelligence and intelligent data usage, has great potential to change many industries. However, companies often find it difficult to adopt the technology. A current study by Gartner shows that only 53 percent of ML projects make it from prototype to production. Business and cultural obstacles are often the reason, those responsible have problems identifying the right use cases and then there is also the lack of qualified specialists. A lack of qualifications is the greatest challenge or obstacle when introducing artificial intelligence (AI) and ML.

Necessary basic knowledge for new ML strategies
Amazon Web Services (AWS), which has had its own branch in Austria for a long time, is now bringing together executives and technology experts in a practical way with a new course offering Training and Certification in order to solve business requirements using machine learning (ML). The digital courses consist of a series of three free digital on-demand courses. The 30-minute course units are intended to provide managers and technical decision-makers with the basic knowledge they need to develop their ML strategies. Amazon wants to improve the technical skills of 29 million people worldwide with free cloud computing training by 2025. The new series is a further step in this direction.

“In addition to real examples that we have seen scaling ML in our own company for more than 20 years, we also share our experiences that we have made with numerous successful implementations for our customers,” explains Constantin Gonzalez, Principal Solutions Architect at Amazon Web Services. “After completing the three courses, the participants can evaluate the ML status of their company and, above all, identify the business areas on which ML can have a significant influence – and take appropriate steps,” said AWS in a press release.

Necessary development of own competencies for managers
The training courses include segments such as “Machine Learning: The Art of the Possible”, where the basics of ML, common use cases and possible challenges are conveyed using concrete examples. The second course, “Planning a Machine Learning Project”, then deals with topics such as “Data readiness, project schedules and questions about implementation”. The third unit, “Building a Machine Learning Ready Organization”, prepares for the successful implementation of ML technology. This ranges from the evaluation of the data strategy and questions about corporate culture to the start of an ML pilot project.

“Executives play a critical role in solving ML challenges because they can drive a culture of innovation and continuous learning in their companies. However, they often lack the resources to build up their own ML skills and develop appropriate use cases, ”says Constantin Gonzalez. AWS has developed very specific parameters for the course offerings and summarized them in the so-called Machine Learning Embark program. “The range of courses has already helped many companies to expand their ML knowledge and to benefit from the technology accordingly. Participants in the new ML training offer will also have access to certain ML embark content, ”says AWS.
