The owner of Besa Trans was the second driver of one of the buses
Macedonian Prosecutor Vilma Ruskovska said in an interview with Skopje’s TV channel Telmathat the fire in the bus, which burned on the Struma highway, started from the luggage compartment above the tank.
Bekim Hadjiu, owner of Besa Trans, was on one of the buses returning from a fateful trip from Istanbul. His children were on the fourth bus. But the four buses did not move in a column, but separated, so the other buses did not understand the tragic accident. The bus in which the terrible fire took place was practically behind the others.
Vilma Ruskovska questioned the drivers of the other buses.
“There was no convoy because the buses left different places from Istanbul on their way back to Skopje. Depending on the wishes of the passengers, some wanted to go to one mall, others to another, for example two buses, including the burnt one, left the parking lot because these passengers did not want to go shopping and therefore the buses did not travel as a convoy. . ”- says Ruskovska.
Hadjiu was actually the second driver of one of the buses. He claims that no flammable substances were transported in the buses.
“He was visibly upset and shaken. I asked him if they had driven fuel tanks. He says there is no way this can happen. It was an informal conversation at the scene. “Maybe by chance a passenger bought pyrotechnics, as the New Year is approaching, but he was adamant that the answer is no,” added Ruskovska.
Prosecutor Ruskovska, according to the Bulgarian prosecutor and chief investigator, described as inaccurate the speculations of the Bulgarian tabloids that there were also materials for the preparation of heroin in the bus, which burn quickly.
Asked how it was possible for the bus to burn down so quickly, Prosecutor Vilma Ruskovska, head of the Organized Crime and Corruption Department, said that according to Bulgarian investigators, more expertise was needed.
“Otherwise, I saw it exactly, I was just photographing the part from which the fire actually started, and this is the luggage compartment, which is located above the tank of the bus. Because in the buses the tanks are in front, “says Ruskovska.
She provided all opinions and documents to her Bulgarian colleagues, who are leading the investigation of the incident.
