This riot happened on Thursday night local time, at the same time as the Europa League match between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Ajax Amsterdam.
“During prayers for Spanish flood victims, Israeli supporters set fire to fireworks,” Tifatul said.
Outside the stadium, the situation was far from peaceful, as several Maccabi Tel Aviv fans started causing damage in public areas. Their actions were reported to have damaged property, disturbed the peace of residents, and even burned the Palestinian flag, which provoked strong reactions from various parties.
“Hitting taxi drivers, shouting racist abuse, destroying property, rioting in the streets, tearing up Palestinian flags. “Eventually it was beaten by the residents of Amsterdam,” he said.
Reported by Jawa Pos, the action of the Israeli club’s supporters immediately drew criticism from the local community and prompted a strong response from the Amsterdam police.
They acted quickly to control the situation by detaining several people involved in the riot, although no official statement was made regarding the identity of the perpetrators.
The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, responded to this incident immediately by condemning the violence suffered by his citizens in Amsterdam. Through social media X, Netanyahu said that violence against Israeli citizens would not be tolerated and even sent planes to evacuate them.
