MacBook Air 2022 could be the biggest revolution with M2 processor

Apple announced the new MacBook Pros earlier this week, which means that rumors already point to the next Mac computer: the 2022 MacBook Air. And so far, it looks like there will be a number of changes to Apple’s simpler MacBook.

This round of leaks comes from @dylandkt, which accurately predicted the specifications of the M1 iPad Pro and the 24-inch iMac. Supposedly, the new MacBook Air will arrive in mid-2022. The current M1 MacBook Air hasn’t really changed the laptop’s design, but it looks like the next one will. Like 24-inch iMacs, it will come in a variety of color options, with a whitish keyboard and bezels. @dylandkt also claims the design will be similar to the MacBook Pros Apple announced at its recent Unleashed event, but thinner and lighter.

In terms of specs, the next generation MacBook Air is supposed to run a new M2 processor. Previously, a Bloomberg report claimed that it would run on a chip code-named “Staten”, which was a faster version of the M1. The supposed M2 also boosts the graphics cores to nine or 10, and it can also be used in a future 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Unlike the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, the new Air is not expected to have HDMI ports and will stick with USB-C. It is also indicated that it will have MagSafe, a 1080p webcam, 30W power adapter and will also have support for two external monitors.

The Air is also expected to continue Apple’s sequence of Mini-LED screens, but @dylandkt said it’s unclear whether the Air will have the notch launched with the MacBook Pro. He said, however, that ProMotion and Face ID will not be included and that the starting price will increase slightly from the current ones.

Another information that is very important is the name. This “upgrade” could also mean a change again and Apple could drop the “Air”, calling the new computer just MacBook.

Another unexpected rumor: Apple may remove “Air” from the name altogether.

As is normal, they are just rumors and it is convenient to face them with some suspicion, but where there is smoke there is fire and some of this information is in line with others previously announced.
