Meter, which manages Wi-Fi systems for businesses, reports that Wi-Fi connections become unstable on the latest Macs with M1/M2 chips.
According to Meter, the latest macOS update is causing Wi-Fi connectivity issues on some M1 and M2 MacBooks. In particular, there have been reports of slow internet connections, dropped video calls, or complete disconnection of Wi-Fi connections.
Meter has submitted this issue to Apple along with other vendors and “Apple is aware of the issue.” In particular, it has been reported that there is a problem with the “Apple Wireless Direct Link (AWDL)” interface used for functions such as “AirDrop” and “AirPlay”.
Additionally, UCLA IT Services has worked with Apple on this issue and has already fixed the issue in the beta release of the operating system. And the upcoming macOS 13.1 release will fix this Wi-Fi problem.
So, fortunately, we have found a solution to the Mac M1/M2 Wi-Fi problem. If you’re having similar problems, you might want to wait for the macOS 13.1 update.
