On September 21, 2024, TrOost Groningen will organize the event ‘Over leven’ in the Wilgenborg in Blauwestad. How do you move on after a sad period in your life and how can you pick up the thread again? Through lectures and information stands we want to show how you can deal with major changes in your life.
Maarten van der Weijden will give a presentation at half past one about how he was able to achieve what he achieved with his boundless mental strength, both in his sport and in his life afterwards. Many know him as that big, bald swimmer with a special life story. The man who was lucky enough to recover from cancer and then won the Olympic Games.
At a quarter to three Brenda Venema will perform the one-act play ‘Kracht’, written especially for the event, a light-hearted story about loss, fear and the courage to find yourself again. All this with a touch of humor and joie de vivre.

She will share her experiences as a doctor in elderly care and her work at the Euthanasia Expertise Centre. She will also speak from the perspective of the people who experience it themselves, their environment and the healthcare professionals she works with.
