M1Craft is a small utility for Minecraft players who use a Mac M1, M1 Pro or M1 Max. Microsoft’s game is not optimized by default for the new chips designed by Apple, but it is possible to obtain good performance, in particular by using an Apple Silicon optimized version of Java. This utility simplifies the process, allowing the game to be launched with a single click.
To function properly, M1Craft must connect to Microsoft’s servers and retrieve a Minecraft license. Once this step has been completed, the app will download the game and the correct version of Java, then launch everything. The developer does not modify Minecraft itself and there are still some bugs, especially with the full screen mode (you must use the macOS one, not the one integrated into the game).
M1Craft is free and the app requires macOS Monterey to run. It is also open-source and its code in Swift can be viewed on GitHub.
