Earthquake a magnitude of 5.2 shook the District PangandaranWest Java Province, on Tuesday (1/3) night.
Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Council (BMKG) said the epicenter of the earthquake was 134 kilometers southwest of Pangandaran. The earthquake occurred at around 22.12 WIB.
“The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers in the Java Sea, there is no potential for a tsunami,” the BMKG warned.
Indonesia is included in areas prone to natural disasters such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions because it is located in the Pacific ring of fire that surrounds the Pacific Ocean basin.
The area is shaped like a horseshoe and covers an area of 40,000 kilometers. This area is also often referred to as the Pacific earthquake belt.
