M 4.8 Earthquake in Cilacap, Pangandaran Residents Scattered Out of Their Houses

Regency residents were shocked by an earthquake, Monday (9/8/2021) night. A number of residents who were inside the house scattered out of the house.

An earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 4.8 occurred in the southern waters of Cilacap Regency, Central Java. The epicenter of the earthquake was 90 kilometers south of Cilacap. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 15 kilometers.

The earthquake occurred at around 21:35 WIB. “The earthquake felt great, maybe because I was lying down. The drinking water in the gallon also seemed to shake,” said Nurasiah, a resident of Pananjung Village, Pangandaran, West Java.

After leaving the house, he found his neighbors doing the same. “If there is an earthquake, you have to get out of the building,” said Nurasiah.

So far, the impact of the earthquake is not known.
