Earthquake a magnitude of M 4.6 occurred in Pacitan, East Java (East Java). This earthquake was felt in Yogyakarta to Ponorogo.
Head of the BMKG Earthquake and Tsunami Center Daryono said the strength of the MMI V earthquake in Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, in Ponorogo, the MMI IV strength.
The strength of MMI V means that the vibrations are felt by almost all residents, many people wake up, pottery is broken, objects are thrown around, pillars and large items appear to be swaying, the pendulum of the bell can stop. Meanwhile, the power of MMI IV, during the day was felt by many people in the house, outside by several people, pottery broke, windows/doors rattled and walls clattered.
“Until now there have been no reports of the impact of the damage caused by the earthquake. The modeling results show that this earthquake has no potential for a tsunami,” Daryono told reporters, Thursday (8/6/2023).
Previously, aftershocks with a magnitude of 3.5 occurred in Pacitan at 00.21 WIB. Meanwhile, a M 4.6 earthquake occurred at 00.04 WIB.
The epicenter of the M 6.0 earthquake was at a depth of 10 Km. The point of the earthquake was at 9.15 South Latitude, 110.69 East Longitude.
