Traders from the association My Presqu’île are warning about the financial problem represented by Christmas lights in Lyon, which will start this Friday, November 29.

What if the lights went out next year? This is what the My Presqu’île merchants’ association fears, as the Christmas lights start this Friday, November 29 in the city of Lyon. To maintain this edition, the city provided funding”separately and more than doubled, going from 45,000 to 100,000 euros. These street lightings are usually 50% funded by the City of Lyon, the rest depends on donations from merchants.

The collection My Presqu’île, which brings together merchant associations from 1Yes and 2e areas, ensuring that the system runs out of steam: “Despite the City’s support through its system, this project is no longer within the reach of traders and associations“. And it is sad that only seven streets will be lit on the Prequ’île – at a cost of 100,000 euros – this year, including five financed by the community. To be expect future enlightenment, My Presqu’île asks the City to make a financial commitment”in a permanent way“.
