Lyon. Saint-Jean Cathedral: ten years after being damaged, the astronomical clock was restored

On March 23, 2013, Place Saint-Jean, in Lyon, the cathedral was the target of an act of vandalism. An individual attacks the astronomical clock.

Equipped with an iron bar, the man strikes this 14th century clock several timese century, leaving it broken into several parts.

More than 10 years later, the work has finally been restored.

The total cost was 301,243 Euro

After remaining stationary for several years, the clock benefited from a valuable restoration carried out by François Botton, a master architect of historical monuments. The work cost €301,243.

It has been a historical monument since 1862.

To receive the work, Marc Drouet, regional director of cultural affairs (DRAC), François Marie, deputy regional director of cultural affairs and director of heritage and François Botton, chief architect of Historical Monuments will visit the site on Friday September 20 to discuss methods of the watch renew.
