In anticipation of the World Cup semi-final between France and Morocco on Wednesday 14 December 2022, several streets in the city center are being cut off.
To prevent potential excesses during the semi-final of the football World Cup, the prefect of the Rhône has taken a series of measures. The prefecture hopes that the celebrations will take place calmly and wants to avoid a repeat of the victory night on Saturday 10 December. The purpose of the operation is to monitor and secure the gatherings regardless of the outcome of the match.
The prefect of the Rhône asks the fans to respect public order and wishes the celebrations “take place in compliance with sporting values.“
Procedures taken
From 19:30 to 00:00 the consumption of alcoholic beverages on the public highway, the sale of alcohol to take away, the possession and use of fireworks, rockets and firecrackers on the public highway and the possession or transport of fuel in portable containers is prohibited.
Several lanes will be closed to traffic from 8pm. Place Bellecour, the Guillotière district and the quays of the Rhône and Saône will no longer be accessible to motorists.
