An afternoon totally off the mark. Olympique Lyonnais (OL) conceded, Sunday August 15, their first defeat of the season in Ligue 1 on the lawn of Angers (0-3), in the Raymond-Kopa stadium, after a match missed in large widths.
Quickly led to the score after the goal of Sofiane Boufal (20th), the Lyonnais offered the break to Angevins on a huge error by Marcelo (53rd, against his camp) before conceding a last goal, scored by Azzedine Ounahi (77th).
Dutchman Peter Bosz’s debut at the helm of OL is complicated. After two games, his team only took one point, that of the disappointing draw conceded at home against Brest (1-1) on the first day of the championship.
Quite the opposite of Gérald Baticle, former assistant to OL and now coach of Angers. After the victory in Strasbourg (2-0) last week, the Angevin coach pocketed a second deserved victory. This is the best start to the SCO season since the club returned to Ligue 1 in 2015.
The Angevin club temporarily occupies first place in the standings and should keep it, unless Marseille wins widely against Bordeaux on Sunday night.
Clermont wins the promoted duel
Clermont is also having an ideal start to the season. For its first year in Ligue 1, the Auvergne club has just chained two consecutive victories, without taking a single goal. After their success in Bordeaux (2-0), the Clermontois took advantage of the reduction to ten of the Trojans to win (2-0), thanks to a double from Mohamed Bayo. Top scorer in Ligue 2 last year, Bayo is already three goals in two games.
In the other meetings of the middle of the afternoon, the Stade Rennais conceded a second draw in a row, this time on the lawn of Brest (1-1), while Nantes, in great difficulty at the end of last season and close to relegation, easily won against Metz (2-0).
Montpellier, for its part, experienced a new disappointment. After conceding a painful defeat to be conceded against Marseille last week (3-2), the Héraultais this time had to settle for the point of a draw in Reims (3-3) while they were leading ten minutes from the end Match.
